Authorship and Acknowledgement Policies

RTSF Authorship and Acknowledgement Policies

The Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities (ABRF) has established recommended authorship guidelines that the Research Technology Support Facility recommends. Please see below for their recommended guidelines:

WHY CITE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF A CORE OR CORE PERSONNEL?

Documenting by investigators of the use and products delivered by each RTSF Core in publications facilitates efforts to obtain resources and funding for Cores to support research. Core facility personnel are valued scientists; in cases where they make a substantial contribution to a publication, they deserve to be acknowledged.

Please include the following information in the Acknowledgments section of any publication resulting from services provided by or facilities used by any of the RTSF Cores:

  1. The name of the specific RTSF Core Facility(ies) used in the scope of your research or project.
  2. Clearly and concisely describe how the Core and Core personnel contributed to your research.
  3. Identities of Centers, departments or units, or equipment grants that supported your project’s access to resources through funding or other means.
  4. When Core personnel provided substantial intellectual input to the project including substantial involvement in experimental design, method development, and data interpretation, these individuals should be included as co-authors.

If you have any questions about correctly attributing the Cores in a publication or award, please contact the staff of the appropriate Core.

For more information, please see the Authorship Guidelines established by the ABRF.
