Christian Martin
Dr. Christian Martin is a microbiologist and metabolomics researcher with expertise in multi-omics approaches. His research spans various areas, including skin-associated bacteria in Panamanian frogs, lung microbiomes in chronic diseases, and the biochemical processes that sustain coral reefs.
Dr. Martin completed his Ph.D. in biotechnology in Panama, sponsored by Acharya Nagarjuna University. His doctoral research focused on natural products, contributing to a deeper understanding of bioactive compounds in terms of bioprospecting and biological conservation. During his postdoctoral fellowship at Michigan State University (MSU), he gained further expertise in integrating metabolome and microbiome data. He currently works at MSU's Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics Core, where he assists researchers with sample preparation, data processing, and analysis using machine learning and statistical methods. Although he has experience with LC-MS/MS and MALDI Imaging MS, he will be transitioning to GC-MS data analysis to better support users in the core.
