About RTSF
RTSF...What our Cores do
RTSF Cores provide technical and analytical support for Biomedical and Agricultural research at Michigan State University in Flow Cytometry, Genomics, IVIS Spectrum Imaging, Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics, Cryo-electron Microscopy, Research Greenhouse Complex, and Proteomics.
The RTSF Cores and their services are accessible to researchers at MSU and academic and research institutions throughout the world. Our mandate is also to provide services to all Michigan Biotech and Pharmaceutical Companies, and we have institutional customers from all over the globe.
The RTSF Core Facilities
The Research Technology Support Facility (RTSF) at Michigan State University is supported and managed by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies.
Flow Cytometry Core
The Flow Cytometry Core is no longer a part of RTSF, but has merged with the MSU Flow Cytometry Core Facility. For more information please visit their website here.
Genomics Core
The Genomics Core provides single gene to genomic scale DNA sequencing services, DNA fingerprinting and genotyping, quantitative PCR, microarray printing and analysis.
Bioinformatics Core
The Bioinformatics Core supports researchers by analyzing complex omics data, integrating data from multiple methodologies, and providing a meaningful biological context for the results. It is involved at all stages of the investigative process including grant development, experimental design, constructing and maintaining reproducible workflows, writing and reviewing manuscripts, and providing training for researchers at all stages of their careers.
IVIS Spectrum Imaging Core
The IVIS Spectrum Imaging Core uses quantitative bioluminescent and fluorescent (transmission and reflectance) imaging in vivo and in vitro.
Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics Core
The Mass Spectrometry and Metabolomics Core offers access to an array of mass spectrometry instruments for small molecule analyses as well as some polymer and intact protein analyses.
Proteomics Core
The Proteomics Core offers high-throughput mass spectral protein identification and determination of protein expression patterns.
Research Greenhouse Complex Core
The Research Greenhouse Complex Core is comprised of 130 individual greenhouse sections totaling approximately 92,000 square feet on main campus, as well as 12 greenhouse sections totaling approximately 22,000 square feet on the south campus farms.
