Dr. Maryam Goudarzi

Maryam Goudarzi

Dr. Maryam Goudarzi, joins MSU as an associate professor in BMB and   director of Metabolomics Core in RTSF. Maryam has 15 years of   experience in mass spectrometry and has been heavily involved in   metabolomics research for the past 13 years. She completed her PhD   in application of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS) at   George Mason University in 2011, and her post-doctoral fellowship in   metabolomics and gut microbiome research at Georgetown University Medical Center. She joins MSU from Charles River Labs, where she   served as the Associate Director of Bioanalytical Chemistry.

Prior to that she served as a Project Scientist at Cleveland Clinic Foundation Lerner Research Institute (CCF-LRI) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Cleveland Clinic College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. She led the untargeted metabolomics service core at LRI and her main research focus included high confidence compound ID, data analysis and standardization of metabolomics workflows. Maryam’s skills in metabolomics research, collaborative nature, and driven attitude contributed to the rapid growth of the metabolomics core at CCF-LRI, which supported 190 labs and over $300 million in total research funding. In the past 7 years, Maryam has also held several positions in the metabolomics research community. From 2017 to 2020 she served as vice-president of Metabolomics Association of North America (MANA) and is currently the Treasurer. She also is a founding member of several initiatives in MANA. She established MANA’s Early-Career Council with the support of other MANA members, co-lead MANA’s Microbiome Interest Group between 2020 and 2022, and serves on the WomiX (Women in Metabolomics) committee.
